• Enhancing Staff Well-Being and Productivity with Exoskeletons

For the past 15 years, Isa from our packing department has been responsible for carefully preparing electromagnets and other components for shipment, a job that requires heavy lifting, bending, and handling materials that take a toll on the body over time. By the end of his shift, the strain on his back and shoulders often made recovery difficult. That’s why Isa was among the first in Buckley Systems to trial a new wearable exoskeleton designed to reduce fatigue and improve comfort.

The exoskeleton technology we are currently trailing is from Exxovantage®. These lightweight, passive exoskeletons assist workers with physically demanding and repetitive tasks. The exoskeletons use a simple yet effective system of flexible fiberglass rods and padded straps to shift part of the load from the upper body to the thighs, significantly reducing strain on the spine and lower back.

Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Staff across different departments report feeling less fatigue at the end of their shifts. Isa, for example, says he no longer experiences the same level of exhaustion, which has made a difference to his well-being.

At Buckley Systems, we understand that manufacturing and engineering can be physically demanding, requiring both endurance and precision every day. We’re committed to supporting the well-being of our staff, and by implementing ergonomic solutions like exoskeletons, we aim to reduce physical strain, prevent injuries, and ensure that our workers can continue performing at their best.

Innovation isn’t just about what we create, it’s about how we support the people who make it all happen.
