Students Visit Our Plant

17th, December 2024

Our HR team recently had the pleasure of hosting a group of students organized by the Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council and The Cause Collective, which focuses on engaging Pacific peoples and South Auckland communities. These bright young minds, from a mix of local schools and year groups, got an up-close look at the exciting world of manufacturing and the career possibilities it holds.

Our Chief People Officer Dion Orbell kicked things off with an engaging introduction to Buckley’s history and culture, setting the stage for the students to see how they could be part of something bigger.  HR Business Partner Petra Sutherland followed by sharing details of our apprenticeship programme and the opportunities it offers for hands-on learning and career growth.

The real highlight was the tour of our plant led by Dion, Petra and Lewis Peart. The students got to experience first-hand the cutting-edge work we do, seeing the variety of roles and skills that go into making our industry thrive.

This visit is part of our broader effort to widen our talent pool and strengthen our community connections. We're excited to be part of the journey that could inspire some of these young minds to consider a future in manufacturing.
